One of the Universities we have developed a collaboration with is Kettering University
in Flint, Michigan through the Kagle Leadership Program.

Through a generous gift to Kettering University by Flint Native and GMI/Kettering alum
Robert C. Kagle, a mentoring program was born. The Kagle Mentoring Program
was developed and implemented by Ms. Cristina Reed in 2002.
With the addition of the Institute for Proactive Strategies, Inc.,
under the leadership of Mr. Henry E. Bazemore and Mr. Everett E. Roberts,
the program was transformed into the Kagle Leadership Initiatives.

or you would like to recommend a current 8th or 9th grader

We are actively recruiting interested and qualified 9th and 10th grade future leaders to become involved in the program.

An incentive scholarship is available for students who complete the program in their senior year.

Each successful year completed, students will earn 500.00 to be forwarded to a university or college that
the future leader will will attend upon graduation.

This scholarship is a one-time award only for students who graduate from the program and their

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Ninth (9th) to Eleventh (11th) graders of the Flint area or surrounding community High School.

2.7 minimum G.P.A. with expectation of going to a college / university after High School.

Referral from School Principal or counselor.

Letters of recommendation from teachers and individuals in the community.

Community service interests.

Willingness to develop leadership qualities.

Parent / family involvement with participation in at least three (3) meetings during the year.

Willingness to commit to program guidelines and meeting requirements for two (2) Saturdays a month.

Willingness to have a positive attitude in working with other high school students and Kagle leaders.

VISION

Kagle Leadership Initiatives (K.L.I.) envisions an increased number of
empowered, informed and proactive youth from the Flint area community
to become future leaders and engaged citizens.
K.L.I. seeks to provide future leaders with both academic and
non-academic support services designed to enhance preparation
and access to post-secondary educational opportunities.
